Human Development Index (HDI) - Statistics

The HDI is calculated by the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) in an annual report. It is based on 3 indicators:

It determines 3 levels:

  • High: above 0.8;
  • Medium: 0,799 to 0.5;
  • Low: below 0.5.

In 1994, the world average is 0.764 (data on 175 countries).and the extremes go from 0.960 (Canada) to 0.176 (Sierra Leone).
